Arlington resident returns ‘home’ as a Ridgeview physician

Teresa Meyer (Deeter), DO understands the privilege to know many of her patients before they walk through the doors of the Ridgeview Arlington Clinic. Dr. Meyer is a native of the area and a 2006 graduate of Sibley East High School. She recently jumped at the opportunity to return home and practice family medicine in Arlington.

“My husband and I both have a passion for rural medicine and we wanted to be near family. That desire helped to narrow the field when we began discussing where to work. When looking at potential places to practice, we kept ending back in the Sibley region to provide care,” Dr. Meyer said. “We wanted to be a part of a community and take care of an entire community. We also wanted to be a part of a smaller health care system. All of this led to returning to Arlington,” And, returning to the place at which she had worked as a teen.

“Here’s a fun fact: my first job was cleaning the hospital and clinic here,” Dr. Meyer added.

Dr. Meyer and her husband, Nicholas Deeter, DO, both joined Ridgeview Clinics in October. Dr. Meyer practices at Ridgeview Arlington Clinic, and her husband sees patients at Ridgeview’s clinic locations in Belle Plaine and Le Sueur.

Dr. Meyer recalls wanting to be a doctor as a young girl. After graduating from the College of St. Scholastica, she attended medical school at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Mo., and completed her residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Appleton, Wisc.

“I enjoy being able to take care of people that I know and rising to the challenges – and opportunities – of rural health care. I’m able to use my full scope training and really be the physician that sees it all and does it all,” noted Dr. Meyer.

Dr. Meyer is board-certified in Family Medicine and enjoys caring for patients of all ages. Her approach to patient care address the connectivity of the mind, body and spirit with special medical interests in women’s health, pediatrics, geriatrics and nursing home care.

Dr. Meyer and her husband are settling into their new home with their young son, and – when she’s not seeing patients – enjoys spending time with family and friends, biking and hiking.

“Dr. Meyer is a welcome addition to the Ridgeview Arlington Clinic as a doctor who can treat patients from infancy through their senior years. It’s great having a hometown physician in the mix. She’s a great asset to Ridgeview,” added Pam Williams, regional vice president, Ridgeview Sibley and Ridgeview Le Sueur Medical Centers.
