Colonoscopy Testimonials

Margo Bjork, age 54, Le Sueur
RN, Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center

“When I had my colonoscopy four years ago, I was surprised to learn that the doctor found polyps,” Margo said. “I was expecting that everything would be completely clean because I had no family history and wasn’t experiencing any issues. My polyps were removed during the screening, but now, it was is recommended I have another follow-up in five years, so I will be doing another screening again next year.”

Margo isn’t too concerned because she knows that when polyps are discovered early, they can be removed before they turn into cancer. She’s glad she followed her provider’s recommendation to follow the standard of care and have her first baseline screening at age 50.

Margo will be scheduling her next procedure with Gastroenterologist Sabina Khan, MD, Ridgeview Specialty Clinic, who began seeing patients in Arlington earlier this year. “Working at the hospital, I’ve learned that Dr. Khan is highly regarded and has a strong reputation with staff and patients. She does these procedures every day, and is very efficient and thorough,” Margo added.

“The fact that I’m a nurse didn’t really impact my decision to schedule my first colonoscopy screening at age 50, but since having had the procedure, I am able to tell my patients—from experience—that it’s really not a big deal at all. And even having had polyps removed, recovery was no problem either. It was really like I took a big nap and it was all over.”
