General Recommendations for Preventive Pediatric Health Care

How often should your child visit his or her provider? The American Academy of Pediatrics established the following general guidelines for healthy children to visit a provider:

  • 2 to 4 days old   18 months
  • By 1 month  2 years
  • 2 months  3 years
  • 4 months  4 years
  • 6 months   5 years
  • 9 months   6 years
  • 1 year   8 years
  • 15 months   10 years
  • each year after that until age 21

Vaccines and Immunizations

Vaccines and immunizations are a vital part of your child’s health care. The American Academy of pediatrics recommends that all healthy, normal children in the U.S. receive vaccines to prevent:

  • Diphtheria   Whooping cough
  • Tetanus   Polio
  • Measles   Mumps
  • Rubella   Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B   Chicken Pox
  • Pneumoccal Disease
  • Hemaephalus Influenza, Nontypable
  • Menigoccal Meningitis (Age 11 and older)

Well-Child Visits

As children experience the typically rapid growth and development process, well-child visits or check-ups are important to keep your child in good health. Keeping your child healthy with physical care and emotional         support is part of health maintenance. We      offer ways to promote healthy lifestyles in daily activities such as play and sleep. We will ensure your child receives information about proper dental care, immunizations and discipline. Your child’s personal provider will evaluate:

  • Health exams  
  • Vision and hearing tests
  • Vaccinations
  • General health, growth and development
  • Medical referrals to specialist, if needed

Sick Child Visits

Our experienced staff knows that illnesses such as colds and flu can be a very emotionally and physically draining experience for parents. We strive to offer fast services and same-day appointments to get your child back on the road to recovery as quickly as possible.

The physician who regularly sees your child will determine how severe the illness is and will recommend the    necessary steps to relieve symptoms and speed  recovery. Our office staff effectively communicates with you and other  medical professionals to ensure the best choices for your child are made during an illness, regardless of severity.
