Le Sueur City Council Approves Minnesota Valley Health Center/Ridgeview Lease Arrangement

Le Sueur, MN (Nov. 15, 2016) – On Monday, Nov. 14, the Le Sueur City Council approved a lease arrangement which will allow Ridgeview Medical Center to purchase the Minnesota Valley Health Center (MVHC) building and grounds, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

The building and grounds are currently owned by the City of Le Sueur; however, Monday’s vote allows Ridgeview to purchase those entities. Mayo Clinic Health System will continue to occupy the clinic space, and the lease will transfer landlord responsibilities to the Waconia-based Ridgeview. With the agreement, MVHC will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Ridgeview, and the name will be changed to Ridgeview Le Sueur Medical Center. The operation of the Le Sueur ambulance service will also transfer to Ridgeview. Current services will continue on the campus, and Ridgeview Le Sueur Medical Center will be governed by a board composed of representatives from the Le Sueur service area. Additionally, Ridgeview has committed to making future capital investments into the facility.

Earlier this year, the MVHC Board of Directors signed the affiliation agreement with Ridgeview, which indicated the board’s desire to move forward with the affiliation of the two organizations.

The boards and leadership of MVHC and Ridgeview have been in discussions for several months regarding a formal relationship between the two health care organizations. “This is an exciting time for all of us,” said Pam Williams, President and CEO, Minnesota Valley Health Center. “MVHC and Ridgeview share a common vision to provide accessible, local and high quality, patient-centered care. With this agreement and support from the City of Le Sueur, we are committing to keeping health care services in Le Sueur and doing what is best for our patients, community members, staff and our organizations.”
