Swing Bed

What is a Skilled Swing Bed?

Swing Bed is a program designed to provide additional inpatient care to those needing extra time to heal or strengthen before returning home.

If certain criteria are met, a patient treated for an acute condition can

remain in the hospital for follow-up care rather than being discharged to home when they are not quite ready or being discharged to a nursing home when they really only need a few more days or weeks of care.

How Do I Get Into the Swing Bed Program?

Once your physician has determined that skilled care is needed, a referral will be made and a nurse case manager will arrange for admission into our swing bed program.

How Do I Pay for Swing Bed?

Swing bed may be paid for by Medicare, private insurance, or the patient. Medicare has certain criteria that must be met before they will pay and most private insurances require prior authorization.
